Funds Deposited With The Court
OverviewFunds to be deposited with the court pending the outcome of a case under Rule 67 Fed.R.Civ.P. require an order permitting the deposit. Funds placed with the court may be disbursed only upon order of the court. (See Local Rule 67.01). Registry funds deposited with the court are placed in interest-bearing instruments in the Court Registry Investment System (CRIS) administered through the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. CRIS accepts deposits and withdrawals only on Wednesdays. Orders directing the Clerk's Office to disburse invested registry funds should provide instructions as to the disbursement of accrued interest. Finance SectionThe finance section is located in Columbia and is responsible for coordinating all financial transactions involving the U.S. District Court. Court-related fees may be paid at any staffed Clerk's Office. Disbursements are made through the finance section in Columbia. Checks should be made payable to Clerk, U.S. District Court.
